A&E's The Beast

This January, A&E will premiere its second original scripted drama The Beast. Pompeii And The Roman Villa Exhibit At The National Gallery Of Art. The National Gallery of Art hosts Pompeii and the Roman Villa: Art and Culture Around the Bay of Naples, an exhibit of excavated works from the opulent houses of the urban elite in Pompeii and the surrounding Bay of Naples shoreline, which was a favorite retreat for vacationing emperors, senators, and other prominent Romans in the first century BC. This exhibit presents some 150 works of sculpture, painting, mosaic, and luxury arts from the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius.

Compositions of consolation, propaganda, historical interest, anger and peace figure prominently in this homage to the Great Emancipator. Featured works include Barber’s Adagio for Strings and selections from Haydn’s Mass in Time of War and Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony.
