BMW Drive Experience

The BMW partnership with The Art of Elysium continued on Friday with an exclusive drive experience and luncheon hosted by Stacey Bendet & Eric Eisner. Guests had the opportunity to experience the thrills of select BMW vehicles first-hand by driving a custom-designed route that started at the historic Greystone Estate and ended at the iconic Getty Center.

The Art of Elysium "Pieces of Heaven" Art Auction

Vanity Fair and BMW joined a cast of hosts, including Amy Smart and Scott Caan, Cameron Silver and Jeff Snyder, Laura Villaseñor and Andrew Wilding, Ali Larter and Hayes MacArthur, and Topher Grace for the The Art of Elysium "Pieces of Heaven" Art Auction at Palihouse Holloway in Los Angeles. Set to the tunes of actor/DJ Elijah Wood, stars and art patrons previewed 50 plus works donated by artists, dealers, and private collectors. Proceeds benefited The Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization which encourages renowned talent to help children who are battling severe medical conditions.

March 3

Vanity Fair and Brioni, and award-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis with award-nominee Lee Daniels and Gerard Butler, hosted the Artists for Peace & Justice Fundraiser (APJ) at Bar Nineteen 12 in the Beverly Hills Hotel. The swanky affair raised awareness and funds for APJ while celebrating the 65th anniversary of the fashion house Brioni.

March 1

Vanity Fair and Dior celebrated artist Kimberly Brooks's newest painting collection “The Stylist Project” at LeadApron Gallery in West Hollywood, including a specially commissioned work of actress Ginnifer Goodwin adorned in Dior. Style-makers, and celebrities perused the exhibition and mingled with Goodwin and some of the stylists who posed for the paintings.

February 28

Vanity Fair, The FEED Foundation, and the Hungry in America Project joined award-winning chef Tom Colicchio and Managing Partner of CAA Bryan Lourd for a fundraising event to raise awareness of the growing hunger crisis in the U.S. Held at Colicchio’s restaurant Craft in Los Angeles, the event drew celebrities, culinary influentials, and industry insiders who were treated to dishes prepared by Colicchio, acclaimed L.A. chefs Nancy Silverton and Suzanne Goin, and Michael Voltaggio, winner of Top Chef Season 6. A portion of the proceeds benefited the cornerstone project of the host charities-a documentary entitled Hungry In America.

AMELIA PREMIERE

On October 20th, Bloomingdale's and Vanity Fair partnered in New York City for the world premiere of Mira Nair's newest film, Amelia, at the Paris Theatre. After the screening, guests, including cast members Hilary Swank, Richard Gere and Ewan McGregor, along with Mariska Hargitay, Gus Van Sant, Harry Connick Jr., and Ang Lee, enjoyed champagne and custom Amelia displays featuring costumes and props at Bloomingdale's 59th Street.

THE GRAND OPENING OF SPiN BY HERMES

On the closing night of Campaign New York, Vanity Fair and Hermés toasted the grand opening of SPiN—a new ping pong-club in New York City. Celebrities such as Susan Sarandon, Alan Cumming, Judah Friedlander from 30 Rock, Russell Simmons, and Peter Sarsgaard among others were in attendance.

AMERICAN AIRLINES

To celebrate Campaign New York and American Airlines' world-class service, Vanity Fair hosted a series of invitation-only events at the Proust Parlour—home to a special exhibition of Vanity Fair contributing artist Robert Risko's Proust Questionnaire illustrations. On September 17, guests gathered for an intimate wine tasting, hosted by American Airlines' wine master, Ken Chase. Guests enjoyed a collection of European wines and delicious hors d'oeuvres available to American Airlines' business-class travelers, on select flights.

BRIGHT STAR, A FILM BY JANE CAMPION

On Monday, September 14, Vanity Fair hosted the U.S. premiere of Academy Award®-winner Jane Campion's newest film, Bright Star at the Paris Theatre. The entire cast was in attendance along with a variety of friends and family of Vanity Fair, including: Sofia Coppola, Zoe Cassavetes, Harvey Keitel, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Anika Noni Rose, Lynn Collins, Jennifer Missoni, Roberta Armani, Jessica Chastain, Fran Drescher, and Joel Coen. Immediately following the screening, guests walked over to Rouge Tomate for the after party. Special thanks to Grand Marnier, LU Biscuits, and Glacéau.

BRANDAID Project

On September 12, Vanity Fair, along with Diane von Furstenberg, Paul Haggis, and Olivia Wilde hosted an invitation-only party to launch the BRANDAID Project in New York City. The Masks and Mirrors Exhibition—artwork from the Carnival Jakmèl and Croix Des Bouquets collections—were on display at the newly opened DVF Gallery. More than 200 guests were in attendance including Heather Graham, Matthew Bomer, Christiane Amanpour, Molly Sims, Salman Rushdie, Sandra Bernhard, Linda Cardellini, Ryan Lochte, and Cécilia Ciganer-Albeniz. OPENING NIGHT AT THE PROUST PARLOR PRESENTED BY GRAND MARNIER

On September 10, Vanity Fair and Grand Marnier kicked off Campaign New York with a toast to V.F. contributing artist Robert Risko at em>Vanity Fair's Proust Parlour in Soho. The parlour, which was designed as a modern interpretation of a 19th-century Paris café, housed a gallery exhibition of Risko's new and existing illustrations, as featured in the soon to be released book Vanity Fair's Proust Questionnaire, 101 Lumanaries Ponder Love, Death, Happiness, and the Meaning of Life. The event also unveiled Jordi Labanda's new illustrations for Grand Marnier's latest ad campaign.

BOLD CONSERVATION

On May 11, Kohler Co. and Vanity Fair hosted an intimate cocktail reception and photo exhibit to celebrate the work of renowned environmental photographers William Abranowicz, Sebastian Copeland, and Colin Finlay. More than 100 designers, architects, and environmental activists listened to a panel discussion, moderated by Vanity Fair editor-at-large Cullen Murphy, with Abranowicz and Finlay. ON THE SET WITH VANITY FAIR AT HARLEY-DAVIDSON'S "INSPIRE TO RIDE" PHOTO SHOOT

In celebration of Women Riders Month this May, Vanity Fair partnered with Harley-Davidson on a new print campaign that can only be found in the pages of the June issue of the magazine.

With original photographs taken by renowned photographer Art Streiber, the custom portfolio salutes women who embody the Harley-Davidson spirit of authenticity and adventure—health and wellness expert and NBC's The Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels; Grammy®-winning singer-songwriter Jewel; television and film actor Tricia Helfer; and Los Angeles rider Deborah DiMiceli—and encourages females who don't ride to experience life with no regrets on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

USA NETWORK'S CHARACTER PROJECT

On March 12, USA Network and Vanity Fair hosted a star-studded cocktail reception and exhibition at the Stephan Weiss Gallery to unveil USA Network's Character Project, an ongoing artistic initiative celebrating the interesting, dazzling and distinctive people, from all walks of life, who make this country extraordinary. The event was hosted by Mena Suvari and Jeff Goldblum and attended by over 500 guests including Peter Cincotti, Donna Karan, Katie Lee Joel, Lucy Liu and Rose McGowan, among others.

BMW DRIVE EXPERIENCE AND LUNCHEON

On Friday, February 20, a select group of entertainment insiders and Vanity Fair V.I.P.'s had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the all-new BMW 7 Series at the Vanity Fair Drive Experience and Luncheon. More than 30 Hollywood notables cruised on a specially designed route through the Hollywood Hills and beyond to a luncheon that was held at the renowned John Lautner Garcia House, to benefit the Hammer Museum.

BALLY HOLLYWOOD DOMINO PARTY TO BENEFIT THE ART OF ELYSIUM

On Friday, February 20, Bally, Vanity Fair, and Kate Bosworth hosted a "Hollywood Style" game night to benefit The Art of Elysium, a nonprofit organization that encourages working actors, artists, and musicians to dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. Attended by an A-list celebrity crowd, the party coincided with the grand opening of the Andaz West Hollywood hotel.

DIOR LAUNCH OF BRANDAID

On Thursday, February 19, Paul Haggis, Diane Lane, and Josh Brolin, along with Vanity Fair and Dior, hosted a cocktail party and silent auction to benefit BRANDAID–an organization that creates effective branding and marketing initiatives to grow artisan businesses in economically challenged communities. Partygoers gathered at Environment Furniture on Beverly Boulevard to view works created by artisans from around the world.

BMW ART CAR LAUNCH PARTY AT THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART

On Wednesday, February 18, Vanity Fair and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) celebrated four classic BMW Art Cars, each painted by a great 20th century artist: Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, Robert Rauschenberg, and Roy Lichtenstein. The event was hosted by Vanity Fair Contributing Editor Wendy Stark Morrissey and attended by nearly 400 Hollywood insiders. The Art Cars will be on display at LACMA for two weeks.

LAMBERTSON TRUEX UNVEILS "INDEX OF HAPPINESS" AND "GERTRUDE"

On September 11, 2008, at the Lambertson Truex boutique on Madison Avenue, Vanity Fair and Lambertson Truex unveiled two one-of-a-kind bags created in partnership with Campaign New York. Both designed by Lambertson Truex—and available exclusively to American Express Cardmembers—the Collector's Edition "Index of Happiness" tote features a print based on a mixed-media canvas by contemporary American artist Donald Baechler; and the "Gertrude" tote was named after patron of the arts Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney.

VANITY FAIR AND THE CINEMA SOCIETY PRESENT APPALOOSA

On September 9, 2008, Vanity Fair and the Cinema Society hosted a pre-release screening of the highly anticipated film Appaloosa at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in New York, followed by an after-party at the SoHo Grand Hotel penthouse. More than 250 guests attended the event, including the film's stars, Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen, and Patricia Clarkson, Elle Macpherson, Susan Sarandon, and Amy Ryan.

In the October 2008 issue, Vanity Fair and Swarovski came together in an inspired endeavor: Capturing the past, present, and future of Swarovski crystal jewelry and décor in the pages in the magazine. With original photographs taken by renowned photographer Patrick Demarchelier and a modern-day myth written by acclaimed author Elissa Schappell, The Three Graces of mythology—embodied by actresses Maggie Q, Sophia Bush, and Natalie Dormer—conspired to impart the next passage of Swarovski's poetry of precision, an epic tale that began in 1895.

Vanity Fair hosted the Chicago premiere of Ocean's Thirteen to benefit the International Rescue Committee for Not On Our Watch.
